by The Editor at 10:21 23/02/07 (News)
Budget Day is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, 2007.
Few Budgets in recent years have passed without issues which relate to small businesses - not all of them welcome.

This year's Budget, which is probably Gordon Brown's Iast one as Chancellor, is unlikely to be an exception.

The Pre Budget Report, in December last year, signaled to Government's intention to clamp down on Managed Service Companies, including composites, which it sees as artificial corporate structures which reduce tax liability.

Although the details are not yet known, it is improbable that there will be much change from the original proposals.

With the Budget at the end of March and the new CIS scheduled to come into effect two weeks later, this is likely to be a time of considerable upheaval in the sector. which will bring one of the biggest shake-up in the contracting market for years.

Gordon Brown will deliver his Budget speech at 12.30 and, as is usually the case, much of the detail is contained in supporting documents will be published shortly after his speech.

Hardhatter will be providing extensive coverage and reactions to the issues in the Budget which affect small businesses in the construction industry.
